Oswald

Monique Oswald grew up in San Francisco, CA. She earned a BA from the University of San Diego in Education as well as an MS in Education from  National University.  She has a Math Specialist certification and a GATE certification as well.  She taught in Hawaii, Oregon, Lake Tahoe, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato  and Merida, Yucatan.  San Diego is her favorite place to teach.  Since 2009 Monique has been teaching in dual immersion schools.  Teaching students to be bilingual and biliterate is a true passion of hers.

In 2017, Monique joined the team at Golden Hill K-8. She loves teaching all of her students.  Math is her favorite subject followed closely with Reading and Writing.  Sharing stories about growing up in the “olden times” before cell phones and laptops is one of her favorite ways to connect with kids.

Outside of  school, Monique enjoys camping, hiking, travelling, gardening, reading and cooking.   She loves to travel and explore new places and try out new coffee roasts.  She’s hiked the entire John Muir Trail and has done several sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.  The next long hike she plans to complete is the Compostelo de Santiage in Spain.

Horace Mann wrote, “Education is the great equalizer of the conditions of men.”  Monique believes strongly that education is the most powerful tool that an individual owns.  It is the superpower that can transform not only individuals, but communities and civilizations as well.
