Mrs. Harris

Harris

I became a teacher because children are our greatest investment and future leaders. I have been with the San Diego Unified School District for 14 years; serving our students in many different areas; however, since coming to Golden Hill K-8 School, my passion and dedication for teaching increased tremendously. I became an instructor for student with moderate/severe disabilities. My classroom consists of small group rotations, simulcasting/Zooming, interactive learning, and a modified curriculum that meet the needs of this unique population of students. With visuals, manipulative, specialized academics, etc. our students are expected to make growth in many areas of their school and daily life. The primary goals of students are to increase skills in the following area:  academic, social/communication, and emotional growth. We are only able to accomplish these goals with the continuous support of excellent and compassionate paraprofessionals, and other related Service providers. As the teacher and case manager, my responsibilities include teaching, and coordinating Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student on my caseload. Also, through the collaboration and consultation with related service providers such as OT, SLP, APE, Psychologist, PT, and MT, we can ensure that the student's IEP services are implemented.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education from the Concordia University of Chicago, River Forest Illinois. Later, I received credentials from Chapman University to teach students with mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities.

As a member of the Golden Hill School K-8 Eagle family, it’s an honor to serve the students and families in our school community. You are welcome to visit my classroom.  Please contact the school office for additional information or I may be reached via email.

Thank you,

Sarah Harris
