Be a Pro and Always Go
.png)
Our school is participating in the ‘Be A Pro and Always Go’ attendance campaign, in partnership with the San Diego Padres and Manny Machado!
We are competing against 45 other elementary and middle schools in the district to see who can raise their attendance rate the most between now and May 9.
Attending school regularly is the foundation of academic success and lifelong achievement. Research consistently shows the profound impact of regular attendance:
- Children who attend school regularly perform 25 percent better in reading and math
- Missing just 10 percent of kindergarten is associated with lower academic performance in first grade
- By third grade, consistent attendance is directly linked to reading proficiency
- Students who attend regularly are twice as likely to graduate on time
- Even missing just one or two days per month significantly impacts learning
This year’s initiative with the Padres emphasizes the critical importance of consistent school attendance for academic achievement and long-term success. By bringing together our schools, families, and hometown heroes like the Padres, we're creating a culture that values and celebrates consistent attendance as the pathway to success.
Awesome incentives on the line for positive attendance practices include: giveaway items, Seaworld tickets, and tickets to a Padres game!
So, in the words of Manny Machado, “remember to be like a pro, always go!”
